The British Ministry of Defense has declared its readiness to transfer even more defensive weapons to Ukraine.
This was announced by British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, reports The Daily Mail.
“I will keep the question of sending more defensive weapons to Ukraine under close review. I do not rule anything out within helping Ukraine deliver self-defence,” Mr. Wallace said in an exclusive interview for Daily Mail.
It comes as Russia has amassed an estimated 127,000 troops at the border with Ukraine along with tanks and other weapons in apparent preparation for an invasion.
Wallace is convinced that further arms supplies to Ukraine from the UK will be able to convince other countries of the need to increase their assistance to Kyiv.
“The UK is determined to stand by Ukraine, its sovereignty and our mutual interests. We have been helping them build defensive capacity for eight years now and we decided to step up that assistance in light of Russian aggression. Britain stands by its allies,” Mr.Wallace continued.
Ben Wallace also assured that Great Britain will always support Ukraine's sovereignty, cooperate with Kyiv in the field of mutual interests, as they did throughout all eight years of Russian aggression.
In response, Russia accused the UK of fuelling tensions in the region with the weapons deployment. Moscow's embassy in London tweeted, "It is crystal clear that UK shipment of lethal weapons to Ukraine will only fuel the crisis and increase tensions”.
