The UK wants to lead the process of issuing Putin's arrest warrant

The UK should lead the political process of appealing to the International Criminal Court for Putin's arrest warrant. British government should issue a ruling that will recognize the Russian army as a terrorist organization.

This was stated in a comment to Guildhall by Layla Moran, the Member of British Parliament.

"Putin and his army kill innocent Ukrainians. The sanctions we imposed were essential, but we should not stop there", - the politician said.

"It's time to treat Putin's army the way we treat terrorists on the basis of the relevant regulations of the British government. The UK should lead the appeals to the International Criminal Tribunal for a Putin's arrest warrant", - Layla Moran summed up.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an appeal to the international community concerning the need to recognize the Russian Federation as a terrorist state.

Statements of solidarity with the President"s request were made by a number of politicians all over the world.

In particular, Lord Alex Carlile, who previously served as an Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation for the UK, said that based on photographs and other evidence of Russian crimes in Ukraine, Russian government structures such as the Armed Forces, Naval Forces, Aerospace Forces and "United Russia", the ruling political party, should be listed as terrorist organizations in the UK and the US.

The Member of the Canadian Parliament, Member of the House of Commons and National Defense Committee of Canada John McKay supported the recognition of Russia as a terrorist state. In addition, the politicians will redirect the request to recognize Russia as a terrorist state to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.

Rasa Yuknevicienė, the Member of the European Parliament and the former Minister of Defense of Lithuania, stated that the world community should put the issue of Russian terrorism on the agenda.

Robin Wagner, the member of the Bundestag from the Green Party also said that Putin's war crimes in Ukraine, in particular the hostage situation with a civilian paramedic, enabled to qualify the current regime in Russia as a terrorist one.
