Japan imposed new sanctions against the Russian Federation

Japan imposed new measures against the Russian Federation in light of the war in Ukraine. The assets of Russian officials and their relatives have been frozen.

This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

With this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced restrictive measures against 398 Russians and 28 local organizations.

The country imposed sanctions, freezing assets, against:

- 385 deputies of the State Duma of Russia;

- daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin Ekaterina Tikhonova and Maria Vorontsova;

- spouses and daughters of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Lavrova and Ekaterina Vinokurova;

- Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov;

- Vice-Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov;

- Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Admiral Igor Osipov;

- Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces Oleg Salyukov;

- Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces Sergei Surovikin;

- Commander of the Russian Air Force Sergei Dronov.

Two Russian banks:

- Alfa-Bank;

- Sberbank.

Starting from May 12, all assets will be frozen and their transactions banned.

In the sanctions list among enterprises:

- JSC NPK "Techmash";

- Ryazan Design Bureau "Globus";

- Arzamas Research and Production Enterprise "Temp-avia";

- State Machine-Building Design Bureau "Vympel" named after Toropova;

- Arsenyev Aviation Plant "Progress" named after Sazykina.

Starting from May 12, the ban on foreign investment in the Russian Federation imposed by Japan will enter into force. After that, such investments will be carried out exclusively with special permits.
