The negotiations of the trilateral contact group on the "Easter" truce were not productive.
According to the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Three-way Contact Group Iryna Herashchenko, the parties were unable to agree on the terms of the ceasefire for the Christian holiday.
"Russia refused to support the initiative of Ukraine to declare a truce for the holiday, refused to take responsibility for the silence in the Donbass," Herashchenko explained.
She added that Russia categorically refused to assume guarantees of observance of the peace and quiet order.
Herashchenko noted that the "Easter" truce was to begin on April 19 at noon.
Earlier “Apostrophe” reported that the militants violated the declared "Easter truce" on the first day, firing four times at the positions of Ukrainian forces in the Donbas and wounding one Ukrainian soldier.
