Metropolitan Epiphanius convenes a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on May 24. It will be held at his house in the territory of the National Reserve "Sofia Kievskaya".
The event will start at 10 am, followed by a briefing for the media.
As Metropolitan Epiphanius noted, the Synod will look into a situation within the newly created church. It will also assess the hierarchs’ actions and make decisions to strengthen the unity of the church.
It will be the second Synod since the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s creation.
According to Filaret, it is necessary to amend the statute of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, so that it becomes a patriarchy instead of the metropolis granted by Constantinople.
