"Putin is an animal, he will eat you and your democracy for dinner": Zelensky calls to increase aid to Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky called Putin an animal that will eat Europe if Ukraine loses this war.

The Ukrainian President said this during an interview with "The Economist".

The publication notes that since Russia's military actions are gaining momentum and Ukraine's resources are dwindling, the attention of America and many European countries is shifting to domestic politics in an election year. Therefore, Zelensky has to convince his partners not to leave helping us and his main argument is that by supporting Ukraine, Europe is protecting itself from Russian aggression.

"By providing us with funds or weapons, you are supporting yourselves. You are saving your children, not ours. If Russia is allowed to take Ukrainian children, it will take other children. If Russia violates the rights of Ukrainians, it will violate rights in the world. If Ukraine loses, Putin will bring his wars closer to the West. Putin feels weakness like an animal because he is an animal. He feels blood, he feels his power. And he will eat you for lunch with all your EU, NATO, freedom and democracy," he warns.

Volodymyr Zelensky said that there is still a person missing who would talk about Ukraine as a country standing in defence of the whole Europe. That it is in the interests of European countries that America doesn't stop helping our country for the sake of Europe itself. Intelligence services' research shows that Russia may attack other European countries as well.

"The intelligence services of several European countries have started [to examine] the possibility of Russia's attack on their territory... Even those countries that were not part of the USSR," the Ukrainian President said.

Regarding proposals for talks, Zelensky says he sees "no fundamental steps toward peace from Russia." Instead, he and Ukrainians feel a barrage of air attacks on Ukrainian cities in the east, south, north and west.

"I only see the steps of a terrorist country. And if Russia is sending signals that it wants to freeze the conflict, as some Western media are reporting, it is not because they are righteous, but because they don't have enough missiles, ammunition or trained troops. They need this pause. To regain all their strength. And then with all their force turn the page of this war," - summarised Zelensky.
