Kyiv will never fall, but the US does not support Ukraine's strikes on Russia - Blinken surprised with statements

Russia will never prevail over Ukraine, and the United States has been doing everything possible to help Ukraine defend itself from Russian aggression since the first day of the war. At the same time, the United States does not support Ukraine's strikes outside its territory.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

In an interview with the French TV channel TF1, the Head of American diplomacy said that Putin's desire to take Kyiv and "wipe out the whole country" will never come true. He reminded that US President Joe Biden's line has never changed: "Support Ukraine, but avoid war with Russia".

Antony Blinken also confirmed that "there will be no American troops on Ukrainian soil" and that the possibility of a direct clash with Russia is a matter of American national security.

Blinken also believes that "Putin is not interested in expanding the conflict, and certainly not to a NATO country," recalling the automatic nature of Article 5, which guarantees the solidarity of member states. "A centimeter or even a millimeter" of Russian incursion into a NATO country would trigger a reaction from the Atlantic Alliance, he promised.

Regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine, which would mean the de facto annexation of large Ukrainian territories by Russia, Anthony Blinken confirmed that the United States would not push Kyiv to compromise.

"Whatever they decide, we will support them," he assured.

At the same time, at a press conference after a meeting with French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné, answering the question whether he believes that Ukraine's strategic approach, which has increased the number of strikes on Russian refineries, is correct, he said that the United States have "neither supported nor enabled strikes by Ukraine outside of it's territory".

Earlier, Apostrophe reported that Mike Johnson noted that the bill on aid to Ukraine may contain "some important innovations".
