Dirty rain covered the south of Ukraine: forecasters explained whether it is dangerous. Photo.

In early April, a dust storm from the Sahara covered part of Ukraine, and now residents of the south have recorded precipitation of an unusual color - yellow rain fell in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

Photos and videos were posted online on Wednesday, April 24.

Local residents of the regions complain that after the night rain, their cars and things outside are dirty and reddish in color. The published photos and videos show that the cars look as if someone has sprinkled sand on them.

The Mykolaiv Hydrometeorological Center explained the situation, noting that the reasons for the rich shade of the sky are storms over the Sahara Desert in Africa, which kick up tons of dust, and a cyclone of winds blowing from the south to Europe.

''Yesterday, April 23, a cyclone in the Mediterranean brought dust and sand from the Sahara to the Balkan Peninsula. Heavy rains 'washed' most of it to the territory of Greece and Bulgaria. Because high-altitude air flows have a westerly transport, the cyclone from Europe reached the territory of Ukraine,'' the statement said.

That's why residents of Mykolaiv and Odesa regions observed dirty rain.

The Hydrometeorological Center emphasized that such rain is not harmful. The content of suspended solids does not exceed the established maximum permissible concentration.
