Only the domes of the church survived: what Chasiv Yar, destroyed by the Russians, looks like now

Chasiv Yar remains one of the hottest spots on the frontline. Fighting for the city continues, although the enemy's scorched earth tactics only lead to the destruction of the once-populous city, as video footage shows how Chasiv Yar looks now.

The video was published by the Associated Press.

The AP wrote that the footage, shot on Monday and exclusively obtained by the publication, did not show a single soldier or civilian - only a lone man walking in the middle of the road between destroyed buildings.

The video was accompanied by the following description, which read: "Months of relentless Russian artillery pounding have devastated the strategic city of Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine.."

It is noted that there are almost no surviving houses in the city - almost all buildings or municipal offices are burnt:

"...a city once home to 12,000 people is now deserted," the Associated Press notes.

The video shows the consequences of the "Russian World" - almost all buildings have been damaged, the facades are charred, and in some places only the foundation of the structure remains.

Amid all this destruction, one can immediately notice the church, which was also damaged by Russian shelling. But despite the destruction of the church building and the area around it, the dome remained intact, contrasting with the blackened walls of the multi-story buildings.

"This destruction underscores the scorched earth tactics that Russia has been using for more than two years of war, when its troops have killed and displaced thousands of civilians," the newspaper writes.
