Russia does not have the capacity to produce more weapons than it currently does. At the same time, the economic potential of the West is 20 times greater than that of the Russian Federation. The Russians will run out of weapons around December-January.
This opinion was expressed by military expert David Long on the air of Apostrophe TV.
"In Russia, the economy is on a military footing. They are working in three shifts, producing as many weapons as they can. I think they are preparing an offensive and they have enough armor for that. However, I don't think they have the capacity to produce more weapons than they do now. At the same time, the economic potential of the West is 20 times greater than that of Russia. The Russian economy is roughly the same as Italy's. Therefore, the West needs to increase arms production, and this opportunity exists,'' he said.
According to Long, Russia will try to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. However, any agreement can be concluded only after a successful offensive. The only way for Ukraine to join NATO is to liberate the entire territory.
The expert also believes that if Trump becomes president, it will mean a reduction in US aid. However, Europe will provide more assistance. And Ukraine itself will produce more weapons.
Long is convinced that the strategy of deterring escalation in the war with Russia is not working. Ukraine should be allowed to strike targets on the territory of Russia.
