On the night of May 19, when loud explosions were reported in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Defense Forces were able to hit not only the Russian sea minesweeper Kovrovets, but there is a high probability that the Cyclone missile ship was destroyed too.
This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, on Radio Liberty.
He noted that the probability of destroying another Russian ship, the Cyclone, remains high, but this information is still being verified:
"In fact, this information is still being verified. Because to be 100 percent sure, we still need to get the relevant results of objective control. As soon as we have these results, we will definitely inform the public about it."
However, he also added that there is a high probability that if the data on the destruction of the Cyclone is confirmed, there will be no cruise missile carriers in Crimea anymore: "Yes, there is a fairly high probability that there is no longer a single cruise missile carrier in Crimea, if the information about the Cyclone is confirmed. And yes, there is such a possibility. And yes, it is high...".
Finally, he added that the preliminary information is that "two units were most likely hit. So, yes. But we are waiting for more results".
Although the exact consequences of the damage are still unknown, Pletenchuk assured that the personnel were also destroyed:
"Perhaps this time the information about the destruction of not only the ship's depot will be confirmed, but also the possibility that the headquarters of the relevant surface ship brigade was damaged."
Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down two Russian aircraft and a helicopter.
