Call sign Cheka: a combat medic from the Hospitallers died two days before her 26th birthday

On May 29, Iryna 'Cheka' Tsybukh, a paramedic from the Hospitallers, was killed at the frontline during a rotation in the Kharkiv direction a few days before her 26th birthday.

This is stated in a post on the Hospitallers Facebook page.

The page of the Hospitallers medical volunteer battalion left a post in which they mentioned that 'Cheka' was supposed to celebrate her birthday on June 1 - in a few days she was going to turn 26. However, on May 29, she was killed during a rotation in the Kharkiv direction.

"We are at a loss for words. No one still believes in what happened," the volunteer battalion commented.

They recall 'Cheka' saying: "The only choice about freedom in a country at war... the only story about freedom in this context is the struggle for this freedom." Or also that "you have to join the army because this is the era of our unique time, where we can defend our country."

The girl dreamed of children and a cozy house."I want to plant tomatoes...but the most important thing is to end the war," the post reads.

Iryna 'Cheka' Tsybukh believed that it is memory that shapes society, so now, according to her, we should fight for future generations. "we are not doing this for the dead people, because they have already died. We are doing it for those who will know about it in the future. We know best because we are participants in these events. But then there will be a lot of people who will not remember it like we do," the girl is quoted as saying on the Hospitallers' page.
