The Russians continue their attacks near Vovchansk, but suffer heavy losses. On June 2, the Defense Forces managed to capture more than 60 Russian occupiers in this area.
Nazar Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group (OSG) of forces, told LIGA.net.
It is noted that the events took place on Sunday, June 2. Voloshyn said that then the fighters of the Defense Forces were able to capture a large number of Russians (about 60 people) near Vovchansk.
However, the Telegram channel noted that the number of prisoners near Vovchansk could be higher and exceed 60 people, as the Russians complained of heavy losses of personnel.
In addition, Nazar Voloshyn was quoted as saying for LIGA.net that Ukrainian units had taken control of most of the city - approximately 70% of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv direction was under the control of the Armed Forces, while fighting was still taking place on the outskirts.
"Ukrainian Defense Forces control about 70% of the city of Vovchansk. There are fierce battles with the occupiers in the city and its outskirts," commented Voloshyn.
As of June 4, the fighting in the city continues. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy attacked the positions of the defenders six times in the areas of Lypky and Vovchansk over the past day. Five attacks were repelled, one battle is ongoing in the area of Vovchansk.
