Ukraine's Navy has discovered the unexpected fact of the use of Kalibr cruise missiles by the Russian occupiers in Ukraine.
This was announced on the night of June 26 during a national TV marathon by the Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson, Dmytro Pletenchuk.
In particular, he said, the Russians did launch Kalibr missiles at Ukraine from a frigate in the Sea of Azov. Although Pletenchuk had previously claimed that if the Russians did use Kalibr missiles, they did so from submarines in the Black Sea.
"After all the verifications, we finally came to the conclusion that they were launching missiles from the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. One frigate fired back and returned to its home base in Novorossiysk. This time it was lucky to make this transfer," noted the Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson.
He said that the Russian submarine that fired Kalibr missiles at Ukraine a few days ago is still in the Black Sea:
"First, it launched one missile at Mykolaiv Region, though unsuccessfully. Then it used three more. That's why the submarine is empty. At some point, it will return to its base in Novorossiysk. There it will be replaced by another carrier. They have two of them in service now, the 636th project, plus a third submarine that is not a carrier. This is how they (the Russians) are present in the Black Sea," Pletenchuk said.
As for the Sea of Azov, according to the Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson, there is a Russian group of ships that entered the sea, most likely for the purpose of training:
"But the training ended with the use of Kalibr missiles against Ukraine," Pletenchuk said.
According to him, there are two Russian ships in the Sea of Azov, with a total salvo of up to 16 Kalibr missiles.
