On the night of Wednesday, May 8, Russian occupation forces launched another massive attack on Ukraine - seven regions came under enemy fire.

Thus, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, 350 rescuers and 100 units of specialized equipment are currently working to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling.
In total, seven regions of Ukraine were affected by the attack. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but there were injured: two people in Kyiv Region and child in Kirovohrad Region. Klymenko emphasized that the enemy targeted energy infrastructure facilities, about 30 residential buildings, public transport and cars. The building of a fire and rescue unit in Zaporizhzhia was damaged.
"On the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, Russia once again demonstrated its terrorist nature to the world. Police investigators are recording every war crime," said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine published photos and videos of the aftermath of an enemy missile attack in Kyiv Region
"Today, as a result of Russian shelling, fragments of enemy missiles destroyed and damaged 13 private buildings and injured two people," the statement said.
On his Telegram channel, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called Nazi Putin's massive missile attack on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II symbolic.
He emphasized that enemy troops fired more than 50 missiles and more than 20 Shahed drones at infrastructure in Lviv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. All the emergency services are already working on the ground to eliminate the consequences of the terror.
"The whole world must clearly understand who is who. The whole world has no right to give Nazism another chance," the Head of State emphasized.
The information about the launched missiles and drones was confirmed by the Commander of the Air Force of the AFU, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
Thus, according to the information, on the night of May 8, 2024, the Russian occupiers launched a combined attack with missiles of various types and attack UAVs.
In total, the enemy used 76 means of air attack - 55 missiles and 21 attack drones:
- 1 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missile (launched from Tambov Region - Russian Federation)
- 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (from the TOT of Crimea);
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles (from the Black Sea);
- 45 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area Saratov Region - Russian Federation, Caspian Sea);
- 1 Iskander-K cruise missile (from Crimea);
- 2 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missiles (from the occupied Zaporizhzhia Region);
- 21 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs (from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk Region - Russian Federation).
"Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops of the Air Force, mobile firing groups and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the enemy's air attack," explained Oleshchuk.
As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 59 air targets were destroyed:
- 33 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 2 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missiles;
- 20 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs.
Unfortunately, there were hits to electricity generation and transmission facilities and their damage in Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia regions.
Kirovohrad Region
Russians damaged a critical infrastructure facility, destroyed 13 private houses, and injured an 8-year-old child.
Lviv Region
The Russian Armed Forces attacked 2 critical energy infrastructure facilities in Chervonohrad and Stryi districts. Firefighters are working at the scene.
Poltava Region
An energy infrastructure facility was hit in Poltava district.
Vinnytsia Region
There were hits to critical infrastructure facilities.
Ivano-Frankivsk Region
An energy infrastructure facility was targeted. This caused a fire, which was localized.
Zaporizhzhia
The occupiers hit critical and civilian infrastructure. There is destruction. The building of the fire and rescue unit was damaged.
Kyiv Region
The enemy attacked the region with kamikaze drones and cruise missiles. A fire broke out at a civilian infrastructure facility, 2 people injured in Brovary. All aerial targets in Kyiv were destroyed, without casualties or damage.
Kherson Region
The terrorist country struck the civilian railroad infrastructure in Kherson: the tracks and the station were damaged. Currently, the movement of the train No. 121/122 Kyiv-Kherson-Kyiv has been temporarily limited to Mykolaiv.
