WHO declared the coronavirus a pandemic

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic. It infected 118,000 people worldwide and killed more than 4,000 as of March 11.

According to BBC, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who heads the World Health Organization, noted that fear and misinformation are the biggest challenges to overcome in light of the coronavirus.

Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in more than 50 countries. Among these countries are Iceland, Belarus, Mexico, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, where the disease has been recently reported. The virus has spread to all continents except Antarctica.

At the same time, Reuters estimated that the damage to the world economy from coronavirus now reached five trillion dollars.
