Helicopter crash involving peacekeepers in Egypt: several people dead

A military helicopter crashed near the popular resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), as was reported by CNN.

Seven military members of a peacekeeping force in Egypt, including five Americans, one Czech and French national were killed when a helicopter crashed in the southern Sinai Peninsula, the coalition forces announced Thursday. One American survived the crash, which happened in the vicinity of Sharm el-Sheikh, the coalition said in a statement.

According to preliminary information from the Armed Forces, it was an accident, however, an investigation is underway to determine the final cause of the crash. The Chech Defence Ministry said, that the helicopter crash Thursday morning was "caused by technical issues" and involved a Black Hawk helicopter that was a supplying mission of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO).

Notably, in recent years the level of security in this region has decreased due to the actions of the terrorist organization "Islamic State", it is unknown whether it is involved in this case.
