The first Covid-19 vaccines, Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna may receive a trial license for the European market next month.
According to vrtnws.be, this was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen after a video consultation with European leaders on combatting the coronavirus pandemic.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is now evaluating the possibility of selling the vaccine.
"All the vaccines will be properly tested and evaluated before entering the European Market. If everything goes well and without any problems, the EMA will issue a trial marketing authorization in the second half of December," said EU Commission President Ursula von der Layen.
The CEO of the German pharmaceutical company BioNTech, which is working together with the American company Pfizer on the production of COVOD-19 vaccine, said that it is possible that they will be able to start the distribution of the vaccine in the United States and Europe this year.
The European Commission has already signed the agreements with five pharmaceutical companies for the purchase of the vaccine, including BioNTech / Pfizer. Negotiations on the Moderna vaccine are ongoing.
According to "Apostrophe", earlier the American company Pfizer, which together with the German BionTech is developing a vaccine against coronavirus, stated that it was even more effective than it had been previously thought.
