Polish authorities assess a complete shut down of the border with Belarus

On Sunday, November 21, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with his Estonian counterpart. During the negotiations, politicians announced the possibility of closing the entire Polish-Belarusian border. This is reported by Natemat.

According to the Prime Minister, the migrant crisis on the Belarus border may be a prelude to "something much worse", and Poland's border guard said Belarusian forces were still ferrying migrants to the frontier.

Morawiecki warned that in case of further escalation, all border crossings will be closed and trade and transit routes will also be blocked.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas offered support to Poland.

"Lukashenko and Putin will try to divide the West and the EU. It is their main weapon. Thus, they are trying to artificially cause a humanitarian crisis that can be quickly resolved in Belarus," the Prime Minister said.

Moravetsky drew attention to Russia's alarming military activity in Europe:"Turkey, Moldova, attack against Ukraine, attack with a new type of war on the Polish-Belarusian border," Morawiecki said.

Moreover, Poland is ready to finance the return of migrants to their countries of origin. He had telephone conversations with the Prime Minister of Iraq and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Both politicians promised to cooperate fully.

The U.S. also extended its support and confirmed its readiness for close cooperation in protecting NATO's eastern flank.
