Dozens of dead and wounded: new details of the shooting at the University in Prague, photos and video

As a result of the shooting in the building of the Faculty of Arts on Jan Palach Square in the center of Prague, 15 people, including the attacker, were killed. According to updated data, 24 people were injured.

Police Chief Martin Vondrashek said that at least 15 people were killed and 24 injured. As noted in the emergency service, the figures could still change.

According to police, the entire building has now been evacuated. Police officers are now gathering everyone who was in the faculty building. They also urge anyone who was hiding from the shooter in nearby buildings to call the hotline so that the police can pick them up.

There is also information that there may be a bomb in or near the building. Therefore, pyrotechnics are working at the site.

"The police have blocked off the entire Jan Palach Square and the surrounding area. The traffic from the square has been blocked. Integrated rescue system vehicles are parked along the entire embankment; a special Fénix rescue vehicle has also arrived; Prague hospitals are ready for the arrival of victims,” the publication notes.

The first information about the fatal shooting appeared after 15:00 on December 21. It took place at a university in the center of Prague.The Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University is located there.

Students and teachers were running away from the attacker, escaping on the roof and window ledges of the building. One of the girls died due to slipping from the ledge of the building while trying to escape the attacker. The shooter also reached the roof of the building.

According to Zoznam Zpráv's source from the Faculty of Arts, professors and students were ordered to stay where they were, close themselves in their cabinets, and barricade themselves. The Faculty of Arts sent out a warning that the gunman was moving on the fourth floor of the building, where the law department, dean's office, scholarship and music science departments, among others, are located. The attacker attempted to break into the room.

"We are barricaded in the cabinet, but we have no idea what is going on. We had a seminar, suddenly someone said that there is someone with a gun in the building, we blockaded ourselves inside and we are waiting. A shot could be heard. The police know about us, we have to wait here," said one of the students.

Police later reported that the terrorist, named David Kozak, had been eliminated. Some media reported that he committed suicide when the police arrived.
