Preparing for war with Russia: NATO will hold the largest exercise since the Cold War

NATO Alliance intends to hold a large-scale exercise in February 2024. About 90,000 troops will take part in the maneuvers, which will be the largest since the Cold War.

This is reported by the publication Bild.

As noted, January 18, the military exercises were discussed on the sidelines of the meeting of NATO top military representatives in Brussels.

The exercise will be called "Steadfast Defender". In particular, should work out the notification and deployment of national and multinational ground forces.

The scenario of the exercise is a Russian attack on allied territory, activating Article 5 of NATO Treaty and stipulating the obligations of member countries to provide assistance within the bloc in times of aggression, since an armed attack on any of the allies means an attack on all.

"The maneuvers will take place right in Putin's backyard! Namely in northern Norway. This shows how seriously NATO takes deterrence. Other training locations include Lithuania and Hungary," the publication writes.

It is known that the Bundeswehr will provide 12 thousand soldiers, as well as 3 thousand vehicles and 30 aircraft. In particular, the UK will provide an aircraft carrier and several F-35 fighters.

This number of troops in NATO exercise makes it the largest since the Cold War. The last such maneuvers took place in 1988, when up to 125,000 military personnel were involved.

We will remind, earlier the military leadership of the Netherlands warned the population about a serious threat of war with Russian Federation.
