Russia, despite Western sanctions, was able to purchase microchips for the military equipment and weapons production for more than 1 billion dollars in 2023.
This is reported by Bloomberg agency, citing data from Russian Customs Service.
According to this information, the manufacturers of imported chips were American and European companies, including Intel Corporation.
Bloomberg journalists note that at the same time there is no evidence that the companies violated the sanctions legislation and exported to Russia.
The publication suggests that still sub-sanctioned technologies could have reached Russia through third countries, including China, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
"According to customs data, in just the first nine months of last year, Russia imported microchips worth more than $1.7 billion," the agency writes.
In the summer, the media reported with reference to customs information that only in the first six months of last year in Russia imported products of American companies Intel and AMD, including microprocessors, for more than 169 million dollars and 35 million dollars, respectively.
Earlier, "Apostrophe" reported that Russian hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile "Kinzhal" almost all made of foreign "stuffing". And most of all the X-47m2 has parts produced in the United States.
