The UK is planning to test fire a nuclear missile from its submarine in the coming days. The missile will be without a nuclear warhead. The Royal Navy published a map of the test with the approximate flight path.
This is reported by The Telegraph .
Britain plans to launch the missile near the east coast of Florida, about 90 kilometers from the coast. The submarine HMS Vanguard entered the Atlantic and has already arrived at the test site. The missile launch should take place before February 4. The press service of the Royal Navy also published a map with the estimated flight path.
The British military reported a possible danger to ships in the test area. Because the radius of action of the Trident II D5 missile is 5,900 kilometers.
The last time such a missile was launched in 2016, and then it slightly veered off course. Consequently, such a probability is possible even now.
The publication notes that this launch does not directly depend on the current international situation, but is a kind of response of the British military to the escalation of the crisis in the Red Sea.
Earlier we reported that NATO Alliance intends to hold a large-scale exercise in February 2024.
