Israel denies information that Iran could launch an attack within 48 hours, after the destruction of the Iranian consulate in Syria and the deaths of dozens of high-ranking Iranian officials and generals. At the same time, preventive measures have been taken.
Israeli journalist Zvi Zilber spoke about this on the air of Apostrophe TV.
According to him, the country has declared a high alert, but the IDF urged citizens not to panic.
"First, this information has been denied. They say there was no such warning. Nevertheless, we have declared an increased combat readiness. For example, GPS was turned off in the morning. I thought it would lead to a transportation collapse, but thank God, it is not happening yet. I turned on Google Maps for fun, and it showed that I was in Beirut. And other people told me that they saw themselves in Cairo. I understand that this is a preventive measure, for example, against GPS-guided cruise missiles. Iran has cruise missiles, and I think that if they had arrived today, they would have flown to Beirut or Cairo," he said.
The journalist noted that everyone was a little nervous, but not panicked. The IDF spokesperson made a special statement on this issue. He said that there is no need to buy generators or stock up on food and water, no need to panic, but only to follow all the instructions of the rear command.
"We know Iran well - a dog that barks does not usually bite. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule. But if Iran really wanted to attack Israel, it would have already happened," he said.
In his opinion, the likelihood that there will be a war - the Israeli army against the Iranian army - is low. Iran prefers to fight through its proxies, and if it wanted to fight, it would have done so on October 7, 2023, when Israel was most confused.
"The Iranians have nothing that could take us by surprise. Including nuclear weapons. There are no nuclear weapons - we know this for sure. Because nuclear weapons need to be tested at least once, and until you have tested them, you don't have nuclear weapons. Although technologically, I'm sure they have been able to create this weapon for a long time. And everything else they can use, they have already used. I think that the most likely type of response from Iran will be attempts to commit terrorist attacks against Israeli or Jewish targets around the world," Zvi Zilber emphasized.
