The USA, Mexico and Canada plunged into total darkness: impressive photos of the solar eclipse on April 8

Thousands of people in countries located in the Western Hemisphere were able to see a total solar eclipse, a phenomenon that occurs once every 375 years.

This is reported by Sky News.

People watched the extraordinary spectacle on Monday afternoon, April 8. The total solar eclipse was visible in the United States, eastern Canada, and Mexico. Residents of Great Britain and Ireland also expected to see it, but bad weather prevented them from doing so.

Residents of the Mexican beach town of Mazatlan were the first to see the natural wonder, when the Earth, the sun and the moon perfectly aligned, at 11:15 am local time. They could see the outer atmosphere of the Sun, called the corona, shining brightly around the edge of the Moon.

The eclipse then passed through several states and major cities in the United States, including Dallas, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Buffalo, and New York, before reaching eastern Canada.

The solar eclipse lasted about 4 minutes and 28 seconds, and when the moon completely covered the sun, darkness set in and temperatures dropped.
