Looks like Martian landscapes: impressive footage of a sandstorm in Greece

The orange veil of a sandstorm has covered the southeastern region of Central Greece, creating an eerie picture. The phenomenon is expected to disappear at noon on April 24.

According to Greek meteorologist Kostas Lagouvardou, the African dust that covered Greece created an impressive image that made Athens look like a colony on Mars.

The footage from Athens shows an orange veil covering a swimming pool, creating an unusual picture. Among other things, the area around the parliament and the Acropolis was covered in dust.

Crete and the Peloponnese are particularly affected by the wave of dust from the Sahara. At the same time, concentration of dust is high in Attica.

The day before, from 17:30 pm to 19:30 pm, a concentration of 300 micrograms of dust per cubic meter of air was recorded in Crete.

Meteorologists advise to be patient, as the phenomenon is expected to gradually disappear.

On April 24, African dust will start leaving mainland Greece and will leave the Peloponnese and Crete at noon, according to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service of Greece (EMY).
