France continues to help Ukraine in the fight against Russian invaders - President Emmanuel Macron promised to provide Kyiv with Mirage 2000-5 aircraft and to train 4,500 military personnel.
This was reported by Lemonde.
Macron emphasized that France is not at war with Russia and its people, but will continue to help Ukraine. In particular, tomorrow will start a new cooperation that provides for the transfer of Mirage 2000-5 aircraft, which will allow Ukraine to protect its land and airspace. At the same time, Macron did not specify how many will be provided.
"Starting tomorrow, we will launch a program to train pilots and transfer these aircraft, which will allow us to complete their training by the end of the year," the French President said, adding that the training will involve teaching and equipping 4,500 soldiers.
It is worth noting that Macron also does not rule out sending French instructors to Ukraine.
"Ukrainian land is sovereign. It's not about going to study in a war zone, but when Ukraine faces a challenge, we have to respond to it, as we do every time," he said.
Earlier, Apostrophe wrote that France will provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €650 million.
