France, which was preparing a revolutionary solution for Ukraine, has promised to provide financial assistance in the amount of €650 million. Two relevant agreements are to be signed by the leaders of the countries on Friday, June 7.
This was reported by LeMonde.
Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky will sign two agreements providing for €650 million in loans and grants to Ukraine - the amount will be used to help key sectors, including critical infrastructure.
The first agreement
The publication notes that the first agreement will provide the French Development Agency with €400 million, or rather "preliminary funds of €400 million in loans and €50 million in grants until 2027."
The purpose of this decision is to "expand its activities in Ukraine", as well as to provide stronger support in the energy and transport sectors and, as the publication notes, "to develop administrative capacity".
The second agreement
As for the second agreement, it will be responsible for creating a "support fund" for critical infrastructure. The agreement provides for the allocation of €200 million.
The money will be used "to support French companies in upcoming tenders (...) in the fields of energy, transport, water supply and sanitation, health and agriculture".
In addition, LeMonde notes that the funds will be used "to finance large projects, to strengthen or replace failing energy infrastructure,'' given that the Russians have paid "special attention to this sector" and turned energy facilities into a target for potential attacks.
