Yemeni Houthis could sink another ship in the Red Sea

The Yemeni Houthis, who attacked the Ukrainian ship Verbena, operated by Poland, with anti-ship missiles on June 13, may have also sunk another vessel. As a result of a recent missile attack by Houthi rebels in Yemen, the Greek coal carrier Tutor sank.

This is reported by Apostrophe with reference to Reuters.

It is noted that according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), this ship was hit on June 12.

"Military authorities report maritime debris and oil sighted in the (Tutor's) last reported location,"the UKMTO said in an updated report.

One of the crew members, who was probably in the engine room of the Tutor during the attacks, is still missing.

It is worth noting that since November last year, the Houthis in Yemen have been attacking ships in the Red Sea region. They explain their attacks on commercial shipping as a "sign of solidarity" with the Hamas group in the Gaza Strip, where Israel is conducting a military operation against terrorists in response to a massive attack in October 2023.

Earlier, we wrote that the United States and Britain launched airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
