Israel is preparing to launch a limited operation in South Lebanon to push back Hezbollah forces.

A senior US official believes that the invasion will begin within the next 5 weeks. If Hezbollah does not stop its attacks on northern Israel and does not agree to a diplomatic option, the Israeli operation will be supported by the United States and allies.
"The situation is serious. We've seen an escalation over the last few weeks, and what President Biden wants to do is to avoid a further escalation to a greater war," says Amos Hochstein.
The reason for the preparations for the invasion was the shelling by the Hezbollah terrorist organization, based in Lebanon, of Israeli territory, as an attempt to support Hamas' aggression.
Israel threatened to "return Lebanon to the stone age" in any war against Hezbollah.
