Orban's motorcade crashes in Germany, one police officer died

The motorcade of Hungarian PM Viktor Orban was involved in a road accident. A car collided with the motorcycle of a police officer escorting the Prime Minister. One police officer died in the hospital, the other was seriously injured.

On June 24, a serious accident occurred on the way to Stuttgart airport - the motorcade of Hungarian PM Viktor Orban was involved in an accident with two police motorcycles and a car. As a result of the accident, one police officer died and another was seriously injured.

The publication reports that the accident occurred around 11.15 a.m. at Albplatz in the district of Degerloch in Stuttgart, when a 69-year-old woman driving a BMW did not notice the restrictions placed on the prime minister's convoy, drove over the barrier and collided with the motorcycle of a 61-year-old police officer who was accompanying Viktor Orban's car.

"Due to the force of the impact, the police vehicle was thrown onto the service motorcycle of of another officer (27), who had blocked the intersection for traffic with it," Bild reports.

The 61-year-old police officer died in hospital, while the other officer was seriously injured.

Police Chief, Markus Eisenbraun: "We are deeply shocked by the accident of our colleagues. The tragic circumstances of the death of our valued colleague have left us speechless and have hit the entire Stuttgart police force to the core."

In order to avoid bias, officers from another city's police department will investigate the accident.
