Wildfire on Greek Kos: thousands of tourists evacuated

Thousands of tourists were evacuated by travel companies from the Greek island of Kos due to severe forest fires.

This is reported by Kathimerini.

It is informed that several travel agencies were forced to evacuate their clients from hotels on the night of July 1 to 2 due to the approaching forest fires.

The island's administration has not yet given instructions for a total evacuation, so tourists are still looking for accommodation options.

It is reported that about 10,000 people - tourists and locals - have been evacuated from the danger zone on the island. The wildfire, which was spreading towards Kardamena, has now been brought under control.

As we reported earlier, fireworks launched from a yacht caused a forest fire on the Greek island of Hydra, located south of Athens.
