Two new arcs of confrontation are emerging in the world, reminiscent of the situation before the First World War.
This was written by Dasha Zarivna, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
" In the Pacific direction, Russia, the DPRK, and China are increasingly coordinating. Joint patrols, weapons transfers, and demonstrations of force in the Seas of Japan and the Yellow Sea are not yet a formal alliance, but already systemic interaction. Pyongyang supplies shells and people to Moscow, and in response, Moscow strengthens North Korea's positions on the international stage and provides combat experience. China is still an observer, but it silently tolerates the destabilization that distracts the US from Taiwan ," she noted.
According to Zarivna, this is reminiscent of the situation before World War I, when regional players put pressure on global alliances, hoping to change the rules of the game.
" In the Middle East, the US and Israel are in direct confrontation with Iran and its network of proxies: Hezbollah, the Houthis, Shiite groups in Syria and Iraq, Yemen. The scale of the strikes is growing, but it's not just about military targets - global logistics are under threat, primarily in the Red Sea ," Zarivna wrote.
In her opinion, these two arcs — the Pacific and the Middle East — are interconnected.
" They are overloading US resources, undermining trust in the Western security model, and strengthening the influence of authoritarian players. This is no longer just a post-Cold War "post-order." This is the beginning of a new strategic era — with regional alliances that challenge the collective West ," Zarivna believes.
