Tesla's sales have collapsed catastrophically since the beginning of 2025, while Chinese electric vehicle sales have seen a sharp increase.
Ukrainian journalist Denys Kazansky and blogger Yevheniy Prokopyshyn commented on this topic.
Kazansky noted in his Telegram channel that this is probably the first such case of a global boycott of a single brand:
"Since the beginning of 2025, there has been a catastrophic collapse in Tesla sales and at the same time a sharp increase in sales of Chinese electric cars. It seems that Tesla's market share is being taken by the Chinese BYD. This seems to be the first such case of a global boycott of a single brand."
At the same time, he adds that he is not particularly happy about this:
"China is definitely not our friend or ally. There is more regret and surprise. A cool and promising project is being ruined simply due to the rudeness and arrogance of its headliner."
And Prokopyshyn writes about this on his Facebook page:
"Global sales of Tesla cars (Musk, USA) have fallen by 40% since the beginning of the year. At the same time, sales of BYD cars (PRC) have increased by 30% since the beginning of the year. There is only one question here: is Musk a Chinese agent or just a DBL? PS I don't remember Musk criticizing China at all...".
