America has elected Democrat Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States. Claiming victory in Pennsylvania, President-Elect Biden reached the required 270 Electoral College votes.
“America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me,” Biden said in a victorious statement.
"We are the United States of America. And there's nothing we can't do, if we do it together,” the President-Elect stated.
The Biden-Harris victory symbolizes a historic moment for America: Kamala Harris has been elected the first female Vice President of the United States.
Donald Trump, in turn, expectedly refused to concede. "I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!" the incumbent claimed on Twitter. Trump is planning to file lawsuits in a series of states, making false accusations of mass falsifications and fraud.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. The simple fact is this election is far from over,” President Trump said in his official statement.
“Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated,” he added.
It’s worth noting that Biden’s lead in, for instance, Pennsylvania, is over 30,000 votes (with 98% of expected votes in), which is more than a potential margin of error.
