US states brace for potential violence before Biden's inauguration

The FBI has warned about possible armed protests in all 50 states and the US capital ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, as was reported by Aljazeera.

State officials across the United States are preparing for potentially violent demonstrations in support of President Donald Trump in the days leading up to the January 20 inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden.

Several states, including California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Florida had activated their National Guard forces to bolster security as of Saturday.

Meanwhile, the external security threat was reported by the US Capitol Police. According to NBC News, the following message was sent to staff in the U.S Capitol on January 18: “All buildings within the Capitol Complex: External security threat, no entry or exit is permitted, stay away from exterior windows, doors. If outside, seek cover. USCP”.

According to the agency, the threat was located under the bridge on I-295 at First and F Streets SE, with no entry or exit being permitted at this time. The West Front of the Capitol was evacuated. As it turned out, a "small fire" under a nearby bridge prompted the temporary shutdown of the U.S. Capitol complex and an evacuation of the west front of the building.

The Washington Fire Department specified that the fire occurred near the Capitol, outside the parliamentary complex. The fire was stopped, there were no casualties.

As was earlier reported by "Apostrophe", the U.S. law enforcement officials are trying to identify people who stormed the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Detectives of the Federal Bureau of Investigations published photos of "assaults" on Twitter, asking society for help with individuals identification.
