The US House of Representatives failed to pass a separate $17.6 billion aid package to Israel without aid to Ukraine.
This is reported by The Hill.
It is stated that the relevant bill did not receive sufficient support from two-thirds of lawmakers, receiving 250 votes "for" and 180 - "against".
The draft was opposed by conservative Republicans, who have a majority in the House of Representatives, as they are against Speaker Mike Johnson's decision not to offset aid to Israel with changes in other parts of the budget, which would mean that such aid would increase the deficit.
At the same time, the majority of Democrats saw the vote as a stunt of the Republicans, aimed solely at putting them in a difficult position, because they support aid to Israel, but not separately from support for Ukraine, Taiwan, aid to the Palestinians in Gaza and funding for security of the U.S.-Mexican border.
Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that U.S. Senate unveiled a proposal of $118 billion aid package for Israel, Ukraine and border security.
