'Putin's victory puts America at war': Trump's rival makes tough statement on aid to Ukraine

Ukraine is not asking for troops, only for the equipment and ammunition. Therefore, Joe Biden should tell the American people more about what this package bill means, why it affects the American people, and why it protects them from further war.

This was stated by former President Donald Trump's rival in the Republican presidential election race, Nikki Haley, on the "This Week" program.

"We have to start realizing what that means. And so the importance of making sure Ukraine wins is clear, because we have to prevent further war. And now Putin is feeling bolder than ever," Haley noted.

She noted that in the event of a victory in Ukraine, Putin will certainly lead his troops further: "Then they go and see that another opponent is running for president, and they see that he doesn't care if Putin invades Ukraine. So, what does Putin do? He goes and now he starts to deploy soldiers in the Baltics. He is moving to the next era."

She also noted that Ukraine is not asking for troops, only equipment and ammunition to win this war: "They have a great fighting force. We need to give them what they need so that they can win, so that we can prevent... sending any of our military men and women to fight."

Haley criticized the current US President Joe Biden for not paying enough attention to the issue of communication with Americans. She also noted that the United States is now free from the need to fight Russia on its own. Therefore, she made a further conclusion:

"Joe Biden should tell the American people more about what this package means, why it affects the American people, and why it protects them from further war."

She emphasized that Congress needs to do its job "...and make sure they go and do everything they can for national security. Congress is going to fail because they're making it sound like you have to choose between Ukraine and Israel or securing the border."

However, Haley added that "...securing our national border - securing our southern border is the number one priority, but making sure we help Ukraine and Israel also means preventing war." She noted that less than 5% of the defense budget should be allocated to support Ukraine and Israel, and the ultimate goal is to prevent a full-scale war between Russia and Western states.

Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a bilateral agreement on security cooperation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
