EUCOM secret exercises in Germany: what for?

The secret exercises of the European Command of the US Armed Forces (EUCOM) in Germany have ended on Friday, October 23. The US military practiced the skills of quick mobilization when facing a threat.

It was reported in the publication of the US Department of Defense Stars and Stripes.

The Austere Challenge 2021 was attended by 400 US and NATO servicemen. Throughout the week they were holding simulations of how the allies would respond to an attack.

"The exercises have a broad focus. We are working on a variety of problem sets," said John Boyd, Major General and Head of Exercises at EUCOM.

Although the exercising was supposed to be secret, there is a piece of information that the military practiced ground, naval, air, space, and cyber forces in conflict situation simulation.

One of the reasons for intensified military exercising was Russia's significant activity in the international arena, which is perceived as a threat to US security.
