Former Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński and his deputy Maciej Wonsik were detained in Poland.

The detention took place in the presidential palace, where Kamiński and Wonsik arrived at the invitation of Polish President Andrzej Duda. It is reported that Duda himself wasn't present during the detention.
The detention took place in accordance with the court verdict, issued on January 9. The detainees were taken to the pre-trial detention center.
About 300 people protested at the presidential palace after the detention of Kamiński and Wonsik. In particular, the leader of the "Law and Justice" party, Jaroslaw Kaczyński, was among the protesters.
In 2015, Kamiński and Wonsik were found guilty of land fraud and corruption committed in 2007. At the same time, in 2015, Polish President Andrzej Duda granted them amnesty.
In December 2023 on the same case they were sentenced to two years in prison and deprived of their deputy status.
