Thus, on Monday, May 20, a powerful storm front with heavy precipitation and hail passed over Poland. As a result of the flood, the city of Gniezno was under water, while some other cities in the country were covered with hail.
According to meteorologists, 60-80 mm of precipitation fell that day.
"Some streets were completely flooded and covered with a layer of hail, the diameter of which was at least 2-3 cm. According to local private weather stations, up to 60-80 mm of precipitation could have fallen in the city center," one local newspaper reported.
It is noted that most of the precipitation fell in the vicinity of Torun and Bydgoszcz, as well as Szczecin. The reason for the bad weather was that Poland was under the influence of three atmospheric fronts - the two most active storms spread to West Pomerania, Greater Poland, and Podlasie. The next front covered Pomerania, Warmia, Mazovia, Lubelskie, Lesser Poland, and Silesia. The situation in the Lublin Region, in the area of gardening and horticulture, is dramatic. Many farmers sufferred losses of up to 100%.
The published photos and videos show floating cars, and the ground completely covered with snow, as if in winter.
