Russia's only infantry fighting vehicle plant may be flooded in Kurgan: Tobol River sets record

The water level in Russia continues to hit record highs - on April 19, in some parts of the Tobol River, it has already exceeded ten meters. Russia's only infantry fighting vehicle plant is under threat of flooding.

This is reported by Russian public media.

It is noted that the water level has already exceeded 10 meters in some parts of the Tobol River in the Kurgan Region, beating the records of 30 years ago. As a result of this record, leaks and destruction have already been recorded at the dam site, and the Voronovka neighborhood of Kurgan may be at risk of flooding. The Governor of the Kurgan Region urged people to evacuate.

It is known that yesterday, on April 18, by mid-day, the water level in the Tobol River near the city of Kurgan rose up to 9.77 meters.

Previously, the water level had already risen this high in 1994. Back then, as a result of the Tobol's water level rising to 10 meters, roads, bridges and dams were destroyed in 22 districts of the region, and 62,000 people were affected by the flood.

Currently, the water level in the Tobol River has also risen to over 10 meters. Therefore, the consequences of the flooding are still to be expected. But already now, local residents are showing how water can be seen on the roads, particularly near the embankments.

It is worth noting that the high water threatens to flood Kurganmashzavod, Russia's only plant for the production of infantry and airborne combat vehicles: BMP-3 and BMD-4M, BMP-2, BMP-1, BREM, various types of armored personnel carriers (including BTR-MD) and Kurganets armored vehicles.

As of 2 p.m. on April 19, the water level in the Tobol River near Kurhan is 10.15 meters, with a rising trend of +3 cm per 2 hours.
