Whip and carrot for Putin: the US prepares a new blow to the gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives approved a bill designed to stop the construction of the “Northern Stream-2” and “Turkish Stream” gas pipelines.

This was announced on Facebook by the head of NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy, Andrii Kobolev.

The author of the bill was Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger.

“Completion of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 and the Turkish Stream will create additional threats for millions of Europeans, and will lead to destabilization of the continent,” quotes the author of the Ukrinform bill.

Document HR: 3206 on the Protection of the European energy security, introduce penalties for supply of technology and equipment for the Russian pipeline projects. In particular, it provides for measures against pipe-laying vessels that are building highways.

Earlier in March, Adam Kinzinger introduced the HR bill: 1616 on European energy security and diversification, which prompts European countries to develop their own energy sources.

“These two laws will act like a whip and carrot. They will ensure that the American allies in Europe are protected from Russia’s unauthorized use of energy as a weapon,” the congressman said.

Noted that the draft law HR:3206 will soon be voted on by the House of Representatives. There is a high chance of a quick adoption because the initiative comes from both parties.

As reported by “Apostrophe”, earlier Poland proposed an offer on the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
