President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid a working visit to Poland

On Monday, May 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid a working visit to Poland during which Vladimir Zelensky took part in the celebration of the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the 3 May Constitution of Poland, the press-service of the Office of President of Ukraine reports.

According to the President's Office, Zelensky has also signed a Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which declared the countries’ plans for cooperation.

Mindful of the historical experiences, proud of the achievements of our contemporary cooperation in the region and conscious of the challenges, we look with hope to the future. We express the conviction that the prosperity of our common heritage and common home, rooted in the European civilization, demands that, just like home, also Europe be built on the basis of fundamental values and principles. These are with no doubt: freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity, democracy, the rule of law, equality and solidarity. A uniting Europe should remain open to all countries and nations which share the above-mentioned values,” the document reads.

After the general meeting of the presidents, a bilateral meeting of the President of Ukraine and the President of Poland took place.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Poland is ready to fully support Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

"This is a very important signal. I am grateful that Poland, led by President Duda, always protects our sovereignty and territorial integrity, and does not accept the occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula," the President of Ukraine said.

Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed Warsaw's support for Kyiv's European aspirations.

"Our bilateral meeting ended today with the signing of a joint declaration on the European prospect for Ukraine, i.e. belonging to the EU. In this issue, Poland has always supported Ukraine," Andrzej Duda said at a joint briefing on the results of bilateral talks.

After the meeting the President and the First Lady of Poland were invited to participate in the Crimean Platform Summit, which will take place during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence in August this year.
