Ukraine withdrew from the CIS military agreement

Ukraine withdrew from the agreement aimed at strengthening and developing cooperation between the CIS іііtates in the field of standardization of weapons and military equipment.

This decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine today, April 17, according to the information of the press service of the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine.

"The Ministry of economic development conducted an analysis and concluded that the agreement has no practical implementation in Ukraine, because it standardizes weapons under Soviet State Standards. In Ukraine, the Soviet State Standards were eliminated by 90%, they are replaced by European standards. And yet the Constitution establishes a strategic course to join NATO. We will standardize weapons and military equipment in accordance with this course," the press service quotes the words of the first Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.

According to the government decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will notify the CIS Executive Committee on termination of the agreement and its Protocol for Ukraine in the prescribed manner.

As it was reported by "Apostrophe”, earlier in December, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law of Ukraine "On termination of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation."
