EU agreed to expand sanctions against Russia over the annexation of Crimea

The ambassadors of the European Union have agreed to expand sanctions against Russia over the annexation of Crimea, as reported by European news agencies with reference to sources in the EU.

"On Monday, the EU ambassadors in Brussels supported the proposal to extend sanctions related to the annexation of Crimea by Russia," a European diplomat said. He added that the decision would be made on January 28.

At the same time, journalist Rikard Jozwiak said that sanctions against Russia will be expanded due to Crimean illegal elections. He noted that 7 more people will be included in the sanctions list, with their assets frozen on the EU territory.
