A number of bilateral documents were signed in the presence of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is on an official visit to the State of Qatar, and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
“During an official visit to the State of Qatar, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held negotiations with Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of Qatar Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani. The parties commended the high level of Ukrainian-Qatari relations based on the principles of trust, mutual respect, and partnership,” the statement reports.
During a meeting, the interlocutors outlined the priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar, discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, agricultural, aviation, military, technical, and security spheres. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the parties positively noted the maintenance of upward dynamics of bilateral Ukrainian-Qatari contacts and the steady trend of the annual increase in bilateral trade. Besides, the President of Ukraine held negotiations with Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of Qatar Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani.
13 bilateral agreements were signed during the official visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the State of Qatar.
In particular:
· Agreement on Legal Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice of Qatar. The signing of the Agreement will help deepen cooperation between Ukraine and the State of Qatar in the field of justice, stimulate the exchange of knowledge and experience in the legal field, allow for coordination of bilateral events such as symposia, conferences, seminars and trainings on legal issues.
· Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of healthcare. The conclusion of the document will promote the development of bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of healthcare.
· Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Property Fund of Ukraine and the Qatar Investment Authority.
· Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the youth and sports spheres between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar.
· Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of agriculture and food safety.
· Memorandum of Understanding between the Investment Attraction and Support Office (UkraineInvest) and the Qatar Investment Promotion Agency.
· Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of the infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar on mutual recognition of diplomas/certificates of seafarers.
· Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy between the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and Qatar Petroleum.
· Memorandum between the National Police of Ukraine and the Ministry of Interior of Qatar on cooperation in the field of crime prevention and control.
· Joint Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar.
· Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Hassad Food.
· Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of the State Guard of Ukraine and the Amiri Guard of the State of Qatar on ensuring the security of persons and objects that are protected.
· Director General of Ukroboronprom Yuriy Gusev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Qatari side.
Additional agreements were signed with Qatari companies during the visit. In particular, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti signed an Agreement on additional contribution from the participant between QTERMINALS W.L.L. and QTERMINALS Olvia Limited Liability Company. An agreement was also signed between UDP Renewables and the Qatari state-owned company Nebras Power to invest in green generation facilities planned for construction in 2021-2022.
