The Czech Republic is ready to support Ukraine's membership in the European Union. The Czech Republic became the eighth EU member supporting Kyiv's European integration.
This was stated by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský in an interview with Europeiska Pravda.
With this, according to Lipavský, the Czech Foreign Ministry is actively negotiating with its Ukrainian counterparts. At the same time, Jan Lipavský added that he is optimistic about the results of the negotiations.
At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine should have the right to independently choose the direction of its foreign policy and economic integration path.
"Did Ukraine choose the West? Okay. The main thing is that this is your decision. And there should be no pressure from the outside to change it," the politician stressed.
Lipavský reminded that back in 1968 something similar had already taken place, when the Czech Republic wanted to replace the communist regime with an alternative. But then "the advice came."
"Ukraine should not experience the same thing," the Czech Foreign Minister added.
In this regard, Lipavský is convinced that now Ukraine needs to feel the support of its European partners. On its path to the European integration, Ukraine still needs to fulfill many important tasks.
According to the minister, Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO, for objective reasons, cannot be guaranteed now, but his country will definitely not listen to and indulge Putin.
