UN General Assembly President arrives in Ukraine for the first time in almost 30 years

On Wednesday, July 3, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis.

This was reported by the President's press service.

It is noted that this is the first visit of the President of the General Assembly to Ukraine in almost 30 years.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Mr. Francis for his support of the Peace Summit and the final Communiqué.

"One of the practical outcomes of the Summit may be a new resolution on nuclear safety and security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, with a focus on Zaporizhzhia NPP. Ukraine will submit the draft resolution to the General Assembly for consideration shortly. Thank you for supporting Ukraine with resolutions in response to the full-scale Russian invasion. They are very important for us," Zelenskyy said.

The President of the General Assembly, in turn, reaffirmed further solidarity with Ukraine and noted the resilience and courage of Ukrainians.

As Apostrophe reported earlier, the UN confirmed that it supports Ukraine's independence within its generally recognized borders and joins all initiatives aimed at establishing peace in Ukraine.
