British International School in Ukraine turned out to be bogus - Media

Elite Private British School considered "British International" on paper only, and the level of knowledge provided in this school is lower than in regular schools.

According to Bigmir.net, the founders of the legal entities that manage the British School campuses, namely "British International School – Kiev" LLC and "British International School – Dnipro" LLC, are Olga Zastavnaya and USA company Advanced British Education Limited (ABEL).

According to British registries, ABEL's commissioners are Anton Zastavnoy (Ukrainian citizen and Olga Zastavnaya’s son) and Gethin Jones, who, according to his Linkedin profile, deals with accounting and recruiting. The latter is notable not only for registering a company in the UK, but also for his four years of experience in Moscow in 2009-2013.

Another sign of the "exemplary behavior" of ABEL and the British School is that the only professional connection of the company (apart from Zastavnoy and Jones) is Olga Lomonovskaya – "professional model that has nothing to do with education."

As stated before, the presence of companies with foreign registration among the founders of Ukrainian companies is already becoming commonplace, since behind the European signs and names the are usually a local style of doing business.

In addition to Zastavnoy and ABEL, there’s another co-founder of "British International School – Kiev" LLC – Fazio Limited, British company the only member of which is Anton Zastavnoy, Olga Zastavnaya’s son, the owner of a multimillion-dollar mansion in the center of Kiev.

"Thus, one can officially declare: the British school is a Ukrainian private school, founded and owned by Ukrainians. And the "britishness" of it is that one of the owner’s accountant is a is a British citizen" – according to local media.

Besides, the article contains some reviews of parents whose children study at this school. Based on these reviews, the British School has a teaching staff of not high pedagogical qualifications. An illustrative example is the story of one family who become disappointed with the British school and realized that their son will not get his education according to British standards, so they decided to transfer him to a regular public school: "When I transferred my son from the British to a regular school, I had to hire tutors for many subjects, but in the private school he was an excellent student."
